Durango, a tourist destination par excellence
The “I am your Host” operation, implemented by the Durango Municipal Government, headed by President Toño Ochoa, succeeded in positioning the capital city as an attractive tourist destination during the year-end vacations, from December 21 to January 6. This joint effort served more than 7,000 visitors directly, contributing to the total flow of 67,400 tourists in the municipality.
Figures reflecting the success of tourism
For its part, the Directorate of Economic Development and Tourism, headed by Valeria Gutiérrez, highlighted that during this period 70,090 passengers were registered by bus and 30 thousand by plane, in addition, the tourist streetcars made more than 355 tours in different areas. In addition, the main ecotourism centers and hotels in the capital reached an occupancy rate of 60%, while emblematic sites such as the Zoo, the museums, the Paseo del Viejo Oeste, the streetcars and other tourist attractions received a little more than 65,400 people.
Attraction of domestic and international tourists
Another piece of good news is that the operation attracted tourists from states such as Baja California, CDMX, Jalisco, and Coahuila, as well as from countries such as the United States, Canada, Colombia, Germany and South Korea. Visitors highlighted their interest in the Historic Center, sightseeing tours, museums and restaurants in the capital, consolidating Durango as an attractive destination for diverse markets.
A coordinated effort for memorable tourism
Director Valeria Gutiérrez emphasized: “The success of the operation reflects Durango’s capacity to receive and attend tourists from all over the world. This was achieved thanks to the coordinated effort between the Municipal and State Governments, who work to make every experience in our city and throughout the state, memorable and highlight the cultural and natural riches that make us unique”.

President Toño Ochoa reiterated his commitment to continue promoting strategies such as “Soy tu Anfitrión” (I am your Host), which strengthen the local economy and position Durango as a national and international tourist reference. This operation was not only a great opportunity to showcase Durango’s hospitality, but also a starting point to consolidate the tourism projects to come throughout 2025.
